How to choose the right Summer sandals to make the most of your feet

Like opening your windows to a cool breeze on a hot summer’s day, slipping on a pair of sandals is like air-conditioning for your feet. When the weather heats up and closed- toe shoes aren’t an option, choose one (or all!) of these sandal styles to update your outfit and free your feet.

The fun flat. The playful option you fall in love with at first sight, and then catch yourself glancing at your feet while wearing them. This season go metallic or a punchy, bold fruit-salad bright. Try: Kitsch in Silver.

The go-anywhere sandal. A flat, but not flimsy option that has enough covering to make it appropriate for the workplace. A classic strappy sandal will suit plenty of outfit options and works well with pattern and bold brights. If you’re on your feet a lot, make sure the inner sole has acceptable cushioning and arch support. Try: Innes in Silver

The block heel. This indispensable option will take you from day to night and keep you comfortable on your feet given its sturdy, mid heel-height. it’s the bang-on-trend option that’s comfortable too. Win-win. Try: Harper in Dune

The stylish wedge. Stability and support but a little extra height and the flattering, leg-lengthening look that only a heel can provide. Besides, continually wearing very flat footwear can put strain on your heels, Achilles, and knees, so don’t feel guilty! Try: Candace in Black and Silver.

How to get sandal ready

If winter has left your feet in rough shape try these at-home pedicure tips:

• Soften dry, cracked skin by applying a quality heel balm or foot cream regularly or for a spa-worthy trick, slather rich moisturiser on your feet and pop on some cotton socks before you go to sleep. In the morning any hard skin can be tackled by exfoliating with a pumice stone, body brush or foot scrub in the shower.

• Clip, file and use a manicure buffer to smooth nail beds out, making sure not to trim too short or risk ingrown toenails.

• Apply a hard-wearing polish in a punchy coral, bright fuchsia, classic red or subtle nude shade.
